Update: 3/31/07 If you're browsing through some of the old update pages, you may find that some of the images are missing. As I scan more images, I sometimes find that I have identified the school year of an image incorrectly. At that point, I rename the file and change the numbering of the sequence as necessary. I'm still working on the 4" x 5" film right now, and it appears to be mostly from the 1965-66 through 1970-71 school years. Update: 3/25/07 I've been scanning a lot of the larger format negatives from the sixties. It's amazing how much better the quality of these negatives is compared to the newer 35mm negatives. I've also been trying to scan some negatives for the classes that are having reunions this summer. It seems that none of the group shot negatives for the 1996-97 school year are in the collection. There are quite a few "mugs" from that year that I have been scanning. I still haven't been able to find a single negative from the 1976-77 school year. Update: 3/11/07 As the collection has grown, the original approach of displaying all images on one page has become impractical. I have changed the image pages so they show a drop-down list of image groups. Select an image group to display all images in that group. This should make it easier for everyone to enjoy the pictures without waiting an inordinate amount of time for them to load. You'll also find a link to the Oak Park alumni information page at the top of each class page.

Update: 10/30/06 A few days ago I received an e-mail from Bill Hankins, the former Cambia, Log, and Timberline advisor. He told me that some negatives had been thrown away years ago due to water damage caused by a leaky roof. Although the collection may be incomplete now, my immediate goal is to compile a good selection of images from 1965-1986 so I can finish the DVD video history of the Dan Kahler years at Oak Park. In this video Dr. Kahler recounts the history of the school from its beginning in 1965 to his retirement in 1986. I'll have images from the various school years interspersed in the video. This DVD will eventually be available at the school. At that time I will also make CDs of the full-resolution images for the school to use and/or distribute as they see fit. If you are a regular visitor to this site, you may have noticed that the more recent school years have been getting more attention lately than the earlier school years. This is mostly due to the inconvenience of scanning the medium and large-format negatives that were widely used in the early OP years. 35mm film became the standard in later years, and is much easier for me to scan with the equipment I have. I'll get more of the older images on the site soon. Keep your requests coming in, and check back for updates often! |

Update: 7/29/06 I have uploaded all images that are scanned to date. At this point, I am organizing all negatives by school year, and attempting to identify negatives that are unsorted. Christina Geabhart (OP journalism teacher) has graciously loaned me many Oak Park yearbooks to help with the identification process. Thanks to those of you who have helped identify images. It appears that I have a good selection of organized negatives from school years 1965-1966 through 2002-2003, with the following exceptions: 1966-67 (probably on hand, but not labeled) 1968-69 (probably on hand, but not labeled) 1975-76 1976-77 1978-79 (a few slides from that school year have been identified and scanned) 1981-82 1983-84 1984-85 1985-86 1988-89 1996-97 More images from these school years will probably be found as I continue to sort through boxes of unlabeled negatives.
